The diaphaneity of the mineral describes the ability of light to go through it. Clear minerals usually do not diminish the intensity of light passing as a result of them. An example of a clear mineral is muscovite (potassium mica); some kinds are sufficiently crystal clear to are actually useful for windows. Minerals with numerous cleavages may
